The IAGLCWDC Dance Competition
Rules
CHANGES MADE IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, SEP 22, 2007:
- a new award called the "Top Club Competition Award" has been added:
- This award shall be offered at IAGLCWDC Championship Competitions only.
- The purpose of the award is to encourage clubs to encourage their members to enter the competition.
- The award goes to the IAGLCWDC member club that has the greatest number of entries in the competition.
- For
purposes of this award, each line dance entered is considered an
"entry", each couple dance entered is considered an "entry", and each
team routine entered is considered as "entry".
-
in the COUPLES Dance Rules:
-
Heats will be evenly divided to allow a maximum of eight (8) couples at
a time.
-
Selected music will be played for one and one half minutes (90 seconds).
-
All seven dances (two step, waltz, east coast swing, west coast swing,
polka, cha cha, and night club) will be offered in the Open Beginner, Open
Intermediate, Pro-Am Beginner, and Pro-Am Intermediate divisions just as
they have been offered in the Advanced Divisions in the past. However,
only the required dances for those division will be counted toward the
overall award for the division.
-
The BPM range for East Coast Swing has been increased to 145-160 BPM. The
BPM range for West Coast Swing has been decreased to 105-120 BPM.
-
Extra time is not guaranteed for costume changes.
-
Pro-Am Division dances will now be judged using the Skating System (as
are the Open Divisions) instead of the Medals System (as in the past).
-
in the LINE DANCE Dance Rules:
-
Competitors will dance four (4) patterns total (instead of 6 as in previous
years). The first pattern will be a "vanilla" pattern—danced as originally
choreographed as per the official IAGLCWDC step sheets. The following three
patterns may be danced with individual country western styling and interpretation
as per the official rules.
-
Competitors will dance the first vanilla pattern with their backs to the
judges except in the one wall line dances.
-
in the TEAMS Dance Rules:
-
Lifts are no longer allowed in the Medley Dance Routine Category.
